Government from January 2020 to January 27, 2021

Following the general elections of 10 November 2019, the the Lower House of Parliament ratifies the investiture of Pedro Sánchez as President of the Government on 7 January 2020.

On 8 January, the Royal Decree confirming his appointment is published in the Official State Gazette (Spanish acronym: BOE). He takes the oath on the same day before the King at Zarzuela Palace.

On 12 January, the President outlines the composition of new government and it was published in the Official State Gazette the following day.

On 13 January, Sánchez attends swearing in of cabinet members by King, and on 14 January, chairs first Council of Ministers of 14th Legislature.

Government of 27 January 2021 to 31 March 2021

Pool Moncloa / Fernando CalvoOn January 26, 2021, the President of the Government of Spain announces the the changes in the composition of the Government of Spain.

As a result of the departure of the current Minister for Health, Salvador Illa, who stood in the elections in Catalonia on 14 February as candidate, on January 25, 2021 he ceases in his post and is replaced by the Minister for Territorial Policy and Public Function, Carolina Darias, while Miquel Iceta became new Minister for Territorial Policy and Public Function.

The Official Gazette of the State (BOE) publishes the Royal Decree with the appointment of the two ministers on January 27. They took their oaths of office before King Felipe VI of Spain on the same day at the Palacio de la Zarzuela.

Government of 31 March 2021 to 12 July 2021

On 30 March 2021, the President of the Government of Spain announced the reshuffle of his Cabinet.

The renewal of the Executive comes after the resignation of the second vice-president, minister of Social Rights and 2030 Agenda to run in the regional election of the Community of Madrid. Nadia Calviño replaced him as second vice-president and retains her position as Minister of Economy and Digital Transformation. Ione Belarra, takes over the portfolio for Social Rights and 2030 Agenda. Yolanda Díaz retains her portfolio for Work and Social Economy and is appointed third vice-president.

Government from 12 July 2021 to 17 December 2021
