Pedro Sánchez is sworn in by King Felipe VI as President of the Government

In accordance with the formula established, Pedro Sánchez swore to uphold the obligations inherent to the post, including loyalty to the King, to uphold the Spanish Constitution and ensure that it is upheld and to maintain the secrecy of the deliberations of the Council of Ministers. Pedro Sánchez swore his oath of office on a copy of the Spanish Constitution.

The Acting Minister for Justice, Dolores Delgado, acted as the Commissioner of Oaths of the Kingdom of Spain. The ceremony, held in the Audience Hall, was also attended by senior State officials - the Speakers of the Lower and Upper Houses of Parliament, Meritxell Batet and Pilar Llop, respectively; the President of the Supreme Court and of the General Council of the Judiciary, Carlos Lesmes, and the President of the Constitutional Court, Juan José González Rivas.

The Royal Decree specifying the appointment of the President of the Government, signed on Tuesday by the King after Pedro Sánchez was voted in by the Lower House of Parliament by a simple majority in the second vote of the investiture session, was published on Wednesday in the Official State Gazette.
