Both agreed on the need to defend international legality in the face of the ongoing conflicts in the region, especially in Gaza. In this regard, they commented on the recent extensive report published by Amnesty International.
They also discussed the recent fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria, a conflict widely denounced by Amnesty International, and which is now opening up a transition process which must be peaceful and inclusive, based on the principles of justice and accountability, and which preserves Syria's unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Finally, President Sánchez reaffirmed Spain's commitment to the defence of international legality and human rights in any part of the world, and highlighted all the measures that the government has defended and promoted both abroad, through multilateral institutions, and at the national level.
