Pedro Sánchez reaffirms his commitment to citizens to culminate a decade of progress and achieve a more prosperous and cohesive Spain by 2027

The head of the Executive, accompanied by the President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Salvador Illa, and the Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, underlined his commitment to a "more prosperous, more advanced and more socially and territorially united" country. Pedro Sánchez has stressed the Government's will to culminate "a decade of progress for Spain at all levels", after the time lost due to the inefficiency of those who "are now managing their frustration at their own lack of political project".

The president of the Government of Spain stressed the importance of responding to the noise and disinformation with a genuine national project, the same one that has contributed to Spain's excellent economic situation. Pedro Sánchez has summarised the Executive's action in three main priorities, aligned with the essential values of the European Union: an economy at the service of the people, an ironclad defence of democracy and the promotion of a renewed multilateralism.

Housing as a top priority for the Government

Pedro Sánchez has highlighted the Government's firm commitment to housing as one of the fundamental pillars of his Executive's action. In this sense, the president announced the distribution of 200 million euros for rental vouchers for young people and a new regulation to prevent fraud in tourist and seasonal accommodation contracts.

"We will do more, but we need all relevant administrations to pull together. To begin with, they should apply the Housing Law, because it is a good law that offers very useful tools to local councils and autonomous communities", said the leader of the Executive. "We are going to continue fighting so that housing stops being the business of a few and becomes the right of everyone," said Pedro Sánchez.

In this respect, the head of the Executive stressed that the Government is permanently listening to and sharing the demands of the citizens in terms of housing. "I don't want a Spain where there are rich landlords and poor tenants," he remarked.

No to the withdrawal of UNIFIL troops and an end to arms shipments to Israel

The president of the Government of Spain has sent a message of peace to put an end to international conflicts. "It is imperative that the world does not look away from this conflict," he stressed. Pedro Sánchez has appealed to the international community to back up its support for the United Nations and immediately suspend arms shipments to Israel, as Spain has already done.

He also expressed his opposition to the withdrawal of UNIFIL forces in Lebanon, as demanded by Israel's prime minister. "Spain condemns and will condemn Netanyahu's statement in the strongest terms. There will be no withdrawal of UNIFIL forces in Lebanon. Our commitment to international legality in the terms set out in Resolution 1701 makes more sense today than ever," he said.

Pedro Sánchez has insisted on the peaceful solution of the two states, Israel and Palestine, as the only possible way to put an end to the Middle East conflict and has urged that the international order be based on common rules and not on the force of a few. "It is time for the international community to wake up and act with enormous empathy and decisiveness in the face of Netanyahu and his sole claim to impose a new regional order by force," he said.

Spain, a driving force for Europeanism and international leadership

The president of the Government of Spain has vindicated Europe's recognition of Spain as a true engine of Europeanism, which underpins our position of international leadership. "Never before has our country had so much weight in EU institutions," he stressed.

The head of the Executive vindicated the need to promote a renewed multilateralism that consolidates the current model of peace and prosperity. In this sense, Pedro Sánchez has defended the importance of continuing to increase investment in the multilateral system; a clear example of this will be hosting the next International Conference on Financing for Development in Spain in 2025.
