Washington (United States)

The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, has taken part in the ceremony to celebrate the 75th anniversary of NATO, an Alliance that Spain joined as the 16th member in 1982.

The NATO Summit takes place in a complex and exceptional international context, marked by instability and threats to Allied security. In this sense, the leaders will send a strong message of unity and cohesion on this 75th anniversary of the Alliance, strengthening the transatlantic link and working for peace in Europe. It is also the first Summit in which Sweden participates as the 32nd Ally.

The celebratory event, which took place before the official start of the Summit, was attended by the Heads of State and Government who will participate in the Summit, including, in addition to the Allies, the president of Ukraine, the president of the European Council, and the prime ministers of South Korea, Japan, New Zealand and Australia. Arab partners, such as Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, who attended at a ministerial level, were also among those invited.
