During the meeting between the two leaders, they reviewed the collaboration between Spain and the Ibero-American Secretariat General, as well as the results of the Ibero-American Summit held in Cartagena de Indias (28 and 29 October 2016), which the President of the Government was unable to attend because it coincided with his investiture.

They also took the opportunity to tackle future projects to be undertaken by the Ibero-American Secretariat General, as well as the preparations for the Ibero-American Summit that will take place in Antigua (Guatemala). Mariano Rajoy and Rebeca Grynspan also used the meeting to address the main issues of Ibero-American regional affairs.
