The Minister for Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, accompanied by the Minister for Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Pilar Alegría, and the President of Aragón, Jorge Azcón, visited the Stellantis factory in Figueruelas (Zaragoza), where he was able to see the assembly line and the land where the future battery gigafactory that Stellantis will build together with CATL will be located.

The minister highlighted the value of the aid granted by the government to this project. In total, almost 300 million euros between the PERTE for Electric and Connected Vehicles and the PERTE for Industrial Decarbonisation.

For Hereu, it is a project that will be fundamental for making progress in the industrial transition to the electric car, which both the industry and the government are betting so much on. A necessary transformation to comply with climate commitments and to ensure that Spain continues to lead the automotive industry worldwide.

In 2024, the second call of the PERTE VEC, in its battery and value chain sections, was completed with a total of 1.049 billion euros awarded. And the third PERTE VEC call is underway. In addition, the PERTE VEC IV is expected to be launched this year through SEPIDES, with 1.25 billion euros.
