In the videoconference meeting, Llop reiterated the Spanish government's solidarity with Ukrainian society: "In recent months, the Spanish government has approved 75,000 temporary protections for displaced persons from Ukraine. Almost 40% are infants and minors.

In this regard, the Minister for Justice reiterated the willingness to strengthen collaboration and support for the Ukrainian government, offering to send a team of forensic doctors coordinated by a magistrate to assess on the ground the identification of bodies, DNA analysis and the collection of evidence that could be definitive for the proceedings being investigated in Ukraine and at the International Criminal Court on possible war crimes.

"I have proposed that our respective teams begin to work on a first draft agreement to provide the necessary assistance in the clarification of possible war crimes in Ukraine. Our commitment to the Ukrainian people is clear and firm," said Minister Llop.

Recently, in the Council of Ministers, Spain approved the International Criminal Court's request to start an investigation into these events within the framework of universal justice.

Similarly, the Minister for Justice has indicated that as part of the Spanish government's package of measures to combat this "unjustified attack on the Ukrainian people", legal measures are being developed "to enforce sanctions against Russian oligarchs who are financing Putin's war", including the Royal Decree on registry measures to act against the assets of Russian oligarchs registered in Spain, approved by the Council of Ministers last week.

The joint work of the Spanish and Ukrainian Ministries of Justice, together with experts from the Spanish Ministry of Home Affairs, represents a step forward in terms of collaboration, following the announcement by the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, of a new package of military aid and the envoy experts he is sending to the International Criminal Court, a commitment made during his meeting in Kiev with the Ukrainian President, Volodímir Zelenski, a fortnight ago.
