Ministry of Public Works welcomes agreement between stevedore employers' association and trade unions, end of strikes and return to stability at ports

The Ministry of Public Works welcomes the agreement reached between the stevedore employers' association and the trade unions that puts an end to the strikes, returns stability to ports and guarantees continued employment.

As stated from the outset, the Royal Decree-Law on reform of the sector approved by the Lower House of Parliament facilitated negotiations between the parties by providing the tools and assistance needed to reach an agreement.

The agreement reached discredits those parliamentary groups that opposed approval for the Royal Decree-Law in the Lower House of Parliament by claiming that it did not guarantee employment nor allowed the employers' association and trade unions to find common ground.
