The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, held a bilateral meeting with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, during the international summit in support of Ukraine.
Pedro Sánchez reiterated to Volodymyr Zelensky that Spain will continue to support Ukraine for as long as necessary to achieve a just and lasting peace. In this regard, he highlighted the announcement of a new military assistance package for Ukraine in 2025 worth €1 billion, within the framework of the Bilateral Security Agreement signed between the two countries in May 2024. These funds will be used to purchase military equipment and to strengthen the capabilities of the Ukrainian army. This amount is in addition to the more than €1 billion already disbursed last year and the additional contributions Spain has made to Ukraine through the EU.
President Sánchez conveyed to Zelenski the Government of Spain's commitment to the reconstruction of Ukraine and its willingness to support Spanish companies in their efforts to contribute to the country's economic development.
Pedro Sánchez has highlighted the Government's willingness to continue supporting the Ukrainian diaspora in Spain, with the creation of a 'Casa Ucrania' in Torrevieja, Alicante.
For his part, President Zelenski thanked the president for his continued support and for his visit to Ukraine on the third anniversary of the start of the aggression.
