Meeting of the President of the Government of Spain and representatives of associations, patients, relatives and carers of people with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) | Pool Moncloa / Carlos Herrero - 2024.9.19
Moncloa Palace, Madrid
The meeting comes after the parliamentary agreement reached this week to present a common text of the Law aimed at improving the quality of life of people with MND, which includes the commitment of the groups to speed up the processing of the law, so that it is approved before the end of October.
Both the president of the Government of Spain and the participants in this meeting coincided in expressing their satisfaction with an agreement that includes most of their requests, as it will attend to the needs of these patients in a comprehensive and continuous manner, also benefiting others with similar characteristics, as well as the family environment and caregivers.
Pedro Sánchez thanked the work and dedication of the MND patient associations for the achievement of this law, of which they have been great promoters, and stressed that it is an example of the useful policy and commitment to the advancement of rights that identifies this Government.
In addition to the president of the National Confederation of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Organisations (ConELA), Fernando Martín, and the vice-president of the Francisco Luzón Foundation, Fernando Escribano, the meeting was also attended by the Minister for Health, Mónica García, and the Minister for Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and 2030 Agenda, Pablo Bustinduy.
