The head of the Executive was accompanied on his visit to the factory by the President of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, and by the government delegate in Castilla-La Mancha, Milagros Tolón.

The Government of Spain is committed to the green transition, with green hydrogen as one of its pillars. The decisive policies promoted by the Executive have allowed 20% of green hydrogen projects in Europe to be promoted in Spain.

The green transition is one of the four priorities of the Spanish Recovery Plan, to which almost 40% of the more than 160 billion euros of investments are dedicated, more than 3 billion euros of which are earmarked for renewable hydrogen. As part of this Government commitment, the certainty provided to the sector has influenced the evolution of the project pipeline, which far exceeds the Government's 2030 green hydrogen targets.

In 2020, Spain approved the roadmap for renewable hydrogen, a key sustainable solution for the decarbonisation of the economy, with the objective of reaching 4 GW of installed capacity of electrolysers, and by 2024, tripling the figure to 12 GW, according to the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC).

Inaugurated in 2024, the Guadalajara plant is one of the largest in the world, with Accelera by Cummins investing around 50 million euros. It is also an example of a commitment to territorial cohesion, with the creation of local employment of around 150-200 highly qualified jobs. The installation of this green hydrogen production plant in Spain was announced following an agreement between Cummins and Iberdrola, to accelerate opportunities in the electricity generating systems market.
