The head of the Executive was accompanied by the Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Function, Óscar López. After the inauguration, the President of the Government of Spain held meetings with representatives of Cisco, Meta and Moonshot, leading companies in the connectivity sector.
Pedro Sánchez discussed with Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins the company's actions in cybersecurity and defence, and its sustainability plans, as well as the geopolitical context. In their meeting they also discussed the evolution of the investment in Cisco's chip design plant in Barcelona.
During their meeting, the President of the Government of Spain and Meta's Director of Operations, Javier Oliván, discussed how to address policies to advance digital rights and social media transparency. They also discussed how to follow up on Meta's investments in Spain.
Finally, the head of the Executive met with the founder and CEO of Moonshot, Ross Frenett, a technology company whose mission is to combat online threats such as violent extremism, disinformation, human trafficking, gender-based violence and child exploitation. In line with the proposals announced by the President of the Government of Spain in Davos, both have shared strategies in the fight against disinformation.
