Spain, with 3.2% in 2024, contributed half of the Eurozone's growth, and we will continue on this path this year, with a forecast of 2.6% in 2025, despite the uncertainty surrounding the context of the main European economies. In addition, employment growth in our country is above 2%.

The chief executive recognised the important role of the Catalan chambers of commerce in promoting Catalonia's economic and industrial leadership, and expressed his Government's willingness to work with the Government of Salvador Illa, which will be supported by the Catalunya Lidera Plan, to make Catalonia the economic engine of Spain once again.

In the face of the current geopolitical complexity, the president of the Government of Spain argued that the European Union must respond to important common challenges, such as boosting our competitiveness and economic security, continuing to make progress in the dual green and digital transition, and strengthening our common security and defence. Spain is working in this direction, to strengthen cohesion policy in order to respond to common challenges and to promote development and convergence between regions.

In Catalonia, the impact of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (RTRP) has been 8.8 billion euros, with nearly one billion for the development and strengthening of its infrastructures and the Mediterranean corridor, such as the improvement and modernisation of the Rodalies [commuter train] network; or the transformation process of sustainable mobility supported with European funds from the PERTE VEC (RTRP strategic project for the development of electric and connected vehicles). Furthermore, this autonomous community is a national and European benchmark in supercomputing and semiconductors, and has PERTE Chip projects (RTRP strategic project for microelectronics and semiconductors).
