Pedro Sánchez attends the National Security Council meeting

The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, has participated, along with other members of his Cabinet, in the meeting of the National Security Council, chaired by King Felipe VI at Zarzuela Palace.

During the meeting, the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East conflict were discussed, and the National Civil Protection Strategy was approved. Also ratified were the agreements establishing the Permanent Working Group for the Crisis in the Supply of Essential and Strategic Resources; the Specialised Committee against Serious and Organised Crime; and the agreement on the rules for the development of the new National Aerospace Security Strategy.

The meeting was attended by the First Vice-President of the Government of Spain and Minister for Treasury, María Jesús Montero; the Second Vice-President of the Government of Spain and Minister for Work and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz; the Third Vice-President of the Government of Spain and Minister for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera; the Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares; the Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Parliamentary Relations, Félix Bolaños; the Minister for Defence, Margarita Robles, and the Minister for Home Affairs, Fernando Grande-Marlaska.

The National Security Council was also attended by the Minister for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente; the Minister for Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu; the Minister for Health, Mónica Garcia; the Minister for Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant; the Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Function, Óscar López; the Director of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government, Diego Rubio; the Chief of Defence Staff, Teodoro Esteban; the Secretary of State Director of the National Intelligence Centre, Esperanza Casteleiro; the Secretary of State for Security, Rafael Pérez, and the Director of the Department of National Security, Loreto Gutiérrez.
