The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, today received the members of the men's national football team, winners of Euro 2024, together with their coach and technical team, at Moncloa Palace, and congratulated them on behalf of all Spanish citizens.
Sánchez thanked them "for having given the best version of Spain, for having shown the capacity for effort, for the comeback, for team spirit, for sacrifice, for preparation, for strategy and also for playing fairly and beautifully". "We have a national team that has played brilliantly and won the fourth European Championship for Spain," he underlined.
The head of the Executive remarked that what this team achieved yesterday in historic terms is "extraordinary" and pointed out that the most relevant thing we have seen throughout this tournament is "the team spirit that this group has".
Finally, he wished the national team all the best for the 2026 World Cup and for the World Cup in Spain, Morocco and Portugal. "We want more. Let's go for it," he concluded.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister for Education, Vocational Training and Sport, Pilar Alegría, and the President of the Higher Council for Sports, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes.
