Pedro Sánchez announces he will present a democratic quality package to the Spanish parliament

In the Government control session held in the Lower House of Parliament, Pedro Sánchez announced that he will take a package of democratic quality to the Spanish parliament before the end of the summer.

In response to Gabriel Rufián, a member of the Republican Parliamentary Group, the head of the Executive also pointed out that the Government has an extraordinary agenda before it in terms of reducing inequality. "I am thinking, for example, of the housing policy, of the fundamental problem faced by young people and the working middle class in terms of the impossibility of being able to access housing. But also, he continued, "this government, with a parliamentary minority, has achieved things that are absolutely unprecedented and which are valued outside Spain".

In this regard, Pedro Sánchez recalled some of the measures adopted by the Executive, such as the labour reform, the pension reform, the education reform and the rise in the minimum wage. The president of the Government stressed that these are policies that "are allowing us to grow, create jobs and reduce inequalities, as all international organisations tell us".

Coexistence, social rights, employment and re-industrialisation

The head of the Executive responded to Santiago Abascal, a member of the Vox Parliamentary Group, that the Government is demonstrating with facts that it is possible to raise the minimum wage and create employment. In this respect, Pedro Sánchez recalled that today there are more than 21 million people in Spain who work and pay Social Security contributions.

President Sánchez also argued that the fight against climate change can be used to re-industrialise the country and that "the defence of real and effective equality between men and women means that today we have stronger, more cohesive societies and that, for the first time in the history of Social Security, we have 10 million women working and paying contributions".

Furthermore, Pedro Sánchez stressed that the Government will continue to implement a progressive agenda over the next three years and will continue to work in favour of coexistence, social rights, job creation and re-industrialisation.
