After the inauguration, the President of the Government held several meetings with representatives of leading companies in the telecommunications and information society sector, underlining to them Spain's leading position in digital transformation and the Government's commitment to the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence.

In his meeting with Meta's Director of Operations, Javier Oliván, the chief executive valued the company's commitment to making Spain a key location for the development of the metaverse globally. Pedro Sánchez also thanked Meta for its investment in our country in terms of digital infrastructures, including submarine cables and data centres.

The President of the Government also discussed with Ericsson's Chairman and CEO, Börje Ekholm, his company's involvement in innovation and research in Spain, with a firm commitment to the development of R&D. A clear example of this is the growth of its centre in Madrid, and the imminent recruitment of new researchers focused on the development of disruptive technologies associated with 5G.

The chief executive also shared with Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark strategies to accelerate the deployment of 5G networks and highlighted the company's contributions to the public consultation on the National Cybersecurity Scheme.
