Letter to the European Commission from the President of the Government of Spain and the Prime Minister of Ireland

Faced with the untenable situation in Gaza and the risk of an even greater humanitarian catastrophe due to the expansion of the Israeli military operation to Rafah, the President of the Government of Spain and the Prime Minister of Ireland have written to the European Commission asking for an urgent assessment of the EU-Israel Association Agreement to investigate whether the essential points of the relationship in terms of human rights and democratic principles are being complied with.

It is also proposed that the Council of the EU take appropriate measures in the event that Israel is found to be in breach of its agreed obligations.
