Pedro Sánchez talks to Jordan's King Abdullah II about the humanitarian emergency in Gaza

The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, has held a telephone conversation with King Abdullah II of Jordan. They discussed the dramatic situation in the Gaza Strip and agreed on the need to establish a permanent truce to allow sustained and sufficient humanitarian aid to reach those in need.

The chief executive thanked the King of Jordan for his efforts to alleviate the suffering of the civilian population in Gaza.

They also discussed their shared concern about the displacement of the Palestinian population and the increasing violence in the West Bank.

Both also agreed on the need to move towards the realisation of the two-state solution for Israel and Palestine, so that they can live side by side in peace and security.

An International Peace Conference is the appropriate framework for moving forward along this path to open a new chapter in the region.
