The President of the Government of Spain to visit Washington on 12 May at the invitation of the President of the United States, Joe Biden

The two leaders will reaffirm their commitment to the transatlantic link and to their strong support for Ukraine in face of Russia's attack. They will also address the veritable interest of both sides in strengthening their cooperation in Latin America and the Caribbean, and how to join forces to face global challenges such as the climate emergency and the defence of democracy and a rules-based international order. They will also discuss the general outlines of the forthcoming presidency of the Council of the EU, which Spain will take over on 1 July.

On the bilateral front, the President Sánchez and the President of the United States will review existing cooperation in numerous areas, as befits the intensity and breadth of relations between the two countries.
