The Chief Executive, accompanied by the Minister for Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, José Luis Escrivá, and the President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, called for consensus and unity for the National Response Plan to the consequences of the war, which "seeks to protect job creation and cushion the effects of the war on the most vulnerable groups and the most affected sectors".
Sánchez acknowledged first-hand the work of the centre's professionals and underlined the Government's efforts to provide temporary protection to Ukrainian refugees by speeding up reception procedures and setting up three Reception, Care and Referral Centres in Madrid, Barcelona and Alicante, to which a fourth will be added in Málaga. "Spain is once again an example of solidarity, welcome and peace for refugees from Ukraine," he said.
The President of the Government of Spain has vindicated "Europe's patriotism and solidarity" in its response to the war, highlighting the collaboration and work of all the administrations in terms of reception to cope with the humanitarian crisis resulting from the Russian invasion: "We currently have almost 30,000 refugees in Spain under temporary protection and the forecast is to reach 70,000 in a few days", Sánchez pointed out.
