Following the words of welcome and the unveiling of the commemorative plaque for the inauguration of the new campus, H.M. the King and the President of the Government toured the different buildings.

Third largest aerospace facility in Europe

The origin of Airbus's Futura Campus lies in the company's strategic decision to boost Getafe as a powerhouse. The new space facilities were recently inaugurated close to this campus which will produce equipment for the Ariane 6 launch vehicle. Including the new campus, the plant in Getafe becomes the third largest European facility, after Toulouse and Hamburg. The extension of the Getafe centre forms part of the long-term Master Plan of Airbus Spain and spans not just the building of the new campus but also the modernisation of all its facilities and the re-structuring of various functions and work areas that are currently outsourced.

The construction of the new facilities, on a plot of 51,200 square metres, began in July 2018 and has a capacity to house 1,600 employees. The Futura Campus integrates open work spaces, co-creation areas, green zones and digital technologies; the design of the buildings seeks to facilitate dialogue between teams and to foster the well-being of employees. In terms of environmental sustainability, the campus has a Very Good BREEAM pre-assessment.
