Eight years ago, the Lower House of Parliament unanimously decided to dedicate every June 27 to the institutional remembrance of the victims of terrorism. This date was chosen because it was on this day in 1960 that ETA assassinated its first victim in San Sebastian: the 22-month-old girl, Begoña Urroz.

In an article published on Tuesday by the newspaper "ABC", the President of the Government stressed that "we are in a position to beat" terrorism because "we have the finest example against hatred and a desire to destroy: the victims themselves".

He also stressed that the victims and their families deserve "the tribute of remembrance, dignity, justice and truth", and that "we owe an unpayable debt" to them all.
