President Correa, who arrived in our country from Italy, took advantage of his stay in Spain to hold meetings with the Ecuadorian community, the largest Latin American community in Spain, with events in the cities of Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia and Murcia. The President of Ecuador was also received on Monday morning by H.M. the King and held meetings with the Mayors of Barcelona and Madrid.
Economic relations between the two countries are going through a buoyant period, with the presence of Spanish companies in many sectors in Ecuador. Bilateral trade is in line with the size of the Ecuadorian economy. Our exports exceed 350 million euros per annum and imports exceed 480 million.

In particular, there is noteworthy participation from several Spanish companies in the project to build Line 1 of the underground railway in Quito, an emblematic project for the capital of Ecuador and for the country as a whole, in terms of the sum involved and the role it plays in job creation.
