President of the Government receives President of Italian Republic

Within the framework of the meeting between the President of the Government and President Mattarella, the two leaders tackled the political and economic situations in Italy and Spain, as well as relations with the European Union, and reviewed the state of bilateral relations between Spain and Italy.

On another note, the talks were used to discuss the migratory situation in the Mediterranean following on from the agreement reached at the extraordinary European Council held on 23 April and the tragic events taking place in the Mediterranean, above all in light of the presentation by the European Commission of the European Agenda on Migration on 13 May.

Finally, they tackled the issue of Libya within the framework of the mediation being undertaken by the United Nations.
