At a joint appearance, Mariano Rajoy, François Hollande and Angela Merkel reiterated their condolences to the families of those killed in the catastrophe. "I would like to offer my own condolences, those of my government, those of the President of the Regional Government of Catalonia - who is accompanying me here today - and those of all the people of Spain to the families and loved ones of all the victims of this tragic accident", said the President of the Government of Spain.
Mariano Rajoy said that the three countries will work together to identify the victims and repatriate them in the best possible conditions. "We are going to work together and rise to the occasion at such a difficult and complex time as this", he said. He also said that they will investigate the cause of the accident together.

Furthermore, he highlighted the work of the French, German and Spanish professionals and volunteers who are working to help the families of the victims, as well as the warm welcome extended by the mayors of the towns nearest to the site of the catastrophe.
Mariano Rajoy arrived in Seyne-les-Alpes (France) on board a Spanish Air Force aircraft accompanied by the President of the Regional Government of Catalonia, Artur Mas. Upon their arrival, they were received by the President of France, François Hollande, and the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel. After visiting the accident coordination centre, he met with the rescue teams and signed the book of condolence.
