The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, has now held a meeting in Madrid with the Minister for Economy of the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, with the aim of exploring the opportunities offered by the Spain-United Arab Emirates strategic partnership and discussing the main issues of current international affairs.

The two ministers were able to note the progress made in the Spain-EAU Strategic Partnership, which was signed in February 2022 through the communiqué presented by President Sánchez and His Highness Bin Zayed, demonstrating the excellent relations between the two countries.

Albares pointed out that among the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the United Arab Emirates is the first destination of our exports and the second regional supplier, and the first investor in the energy sector.

The foreign minister also welcomed the fact that a greater balance and dynamism has been achieved between sectors of special relevance to both countries, such as infrastructure, transport and the development of renewable energies.

They also had the opportunity to discuss other matters of interest, such as the UAE's growing participation in the international tourism market (where Spain has notable experience) and the orientation of investment efforts towards new growth sectors, such as agrotechnology, green hydrogen and aerospace.
