The Ministry of Home Affairs has activated the State Snowfall Coordination Committee (CECOD), which met at the head office of the Directorate General for Civil Protection and Emergencies under the presidency of the department's undersecretary, Susana Crisóstomo, and which has approved a protocol to strengthen the coordination of different bodies of the General State Administration in the event of snowfall and other extreme meteorological situations that may affect the State Road Network for the 2024/2025 campaign.

In addition to approving this protocol, the CECOD has taken stock of the 2023/2024 campaign; the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) reported on the weather forecast for the 2024/2025 season, and the various state bodies in attendance presented the means and resources available for effective management of the cold and snow storms that may occur this winter.

On behalf of the Ministry of Home Affairs, in addition to the undersecretary of the department, the meeting was attended by the director general of Civil Protection and Emergencies, Virginia Barcones, who did so remotely as she was in Valencia working on tasks related to the DANA that devastated several regions of that community, as well as various officials from the Directorate General of the Civil Guard and the Directorate General of Traffic.

In addition, the CECOD was attended by representatives of the Department of National Security of the Presidency of the Government; the Directorate General of Defence Policy and the Military Emergency Unit of the Ministry of Defence; the Directorate General of Roads of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, and the AEMET of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge.
