"Ukraine deserves a just and lasting peace," said Margarita Robles, pointing out that "on this path, Spain will be at its side as it has been since the beginning of this unjust war."
These are words that endorse Spain's commitment to Ukraine, which the Minister for Defence spoke at the ceremony to pay tribute to the fallen, both civilian and military, which took place at the Infantry Academy in Toledo, where the twenty-seventh training module of Ukrainian combatants began.
As part of the EUMAM mission, some 7,500 Ukrainian soldiers are already receiving training in various disciplines in our country. "Moreover, Spain has become a second home for thousands of refugees, and here they have also found medical support for those wounded in the war," said Minister Robles, who wanted to pay special tribute to the deceased, indicating that "the best tribute we can pay them is to help achieve peace in which Ukraine and the Ukrainian People are involved."
The Minister for Defence reiterated that "Spain and the European Union will continue to be on the right side" and insisted that "this war has only one culprit: Putin."
The tribute ceremony was attended by the Government Delegate in Castilla La Mancha, Milagros Tolón; the Secretary General for Defence Policy, Admiral Juan Francisco Martínez Núñez; Brigadier General Antonio Bernal Martín, Director of the Toledo Training Coordination Center, and the Ukrainian military attaché in Spain, Serhii Vtorykh, among others.
