As part of the regular meetings that the Minister for Defence holds with the various Ukrainian defence and military authorities, Margarita Robles today held a videoconference with the commanders of the Ukrainian National Border Guard.

The minister was briefed by the head of the National Border Guard, Lieutenant General Serhii Deineko, and his deputy, General Andriy Kucherenko, on the situation on the ground, and showed particular interest in the damage the country has suffered following the persistent Russian bombardment. In addition, General Deineko expressed his appreciation for the readiness and commitment of the minister and her team, as well as their continued support for the National Border Guard.

For her part, Robles, after praising the work carried out by this military corps, reviewed all the deliveries of support material, as well as that which is on its way. In this context, the minister mentioned that the next shipment will include light and troop transport vehicles as well as ambulances. Power generators will also be added, in response to the urgent needs raised by the Ukrainian authorities.

At the end of the meeting, the minister and General Deineko agreed to schedule future meetings to continue the ongoing communication, which has proven to be very useful in ensuring that the Ministry of Defence's support is optimally tailored to the needs raised by Ukraine.

During the meeting, the minister was accompanied by the Secretary General for Defence Policy, Admiral Juan Francisco Martínez Núñez.
