The Minister for Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Pilar Alegría, was able to follow the naming from the Luis Aragonés Assembly Hall at the head office of the Spanish Football Federation in Las Rozas (Madrid), where the live broadcast of the Extraordinary FIFA Congress held in Zurich (Switzerland) was shown.

"We are going to enjoy a quality World Cup," said the minister, who highlighted the joint work in "harmony, trust and cordiality" of the three countries that make up the designated bid, and affirmed that Spain is "to be congratulated" because it is "a historic day."

"We have a magnificent opportunity to once again demonstrate that our country has the greatness to host events of this magnitude. All the host communities and cities were waiting for it," she added.

Alegría was accompanied by the Minister for Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, the President of the Federation's Management Committee, María Ángeles García Chaves, and the President of the Federation's Supervision, Normalisation and Representation Committee, Vicente del Bosque.
