Migration will assist more than 50 Spanish-Lebanese people without resources, who arrived in Spain yesterday from Beirut
News - 2024.10.4
The Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, through the Directorate General for Spanish Citizens Abroad and Return Policies, has launched an urgent assistance programme for families evacuated from Lebanon by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and who arrived yesterday in Torrejón de Ardoz from Beirut in two planes chartered by the Ministry of Defence. People who do not have the resources to live their lives during their stay in our country.
Initially, the Directorate General, which reports to the Secretary of State for Migration, will be responsible for just over 50 Spanish-Lebanese people, although it is possible these figures could increase in the near future. This assistance will be provided by means of a declaration of emergency. The coordination of the aid will be carried out by ACCEM, an organisation with extensive experience in collaborating with the MISSM both in the Humanitarian Assistance Programme and in the International and Temporary Protection System.
This programme is similar to the one launched almost a year ago, in November 2023, with Spanish-Palestinian families. The Gaza Programme, in fact, serves a total of 119 people, who form part of 31 family units, and who reside in different parts of our country.
In total, the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration provides protection to more than 56,600 people, of whom almost 50,000 are accommodated in our resources (between Humanitarian Assistance and International Protection).
