The 2024 European elections website contains relevant information for citizens on how to exercise their right to vote, the electoral calendar and the different candidates standing for election, among other issues.

The website facilitates user-friendly navigation through the different contents, which are presented in four main sections: general information, political formations, board members and accessibility.

This portal will resolve any doubts voters may have regarding the modalities of voting in person or by post, opening times of polling stations, personal identification documents for exercising their right to vote and who may be called to man a polling station.

The website also contains useful information for people with disabilities so that they can exercise their right to vote in an active, conscious, free and voluntary manner. In this regard, it should be borne in mind that the administration must respect the right to equal opportunities for persons with disabilities in terms of accessing premises and polling stations, and their right to non-discrimination.

Access can be gained directly through a highlight on the website of the Ministry of Home Affairs, and will be available in Spanish, Catalan, Galician, Basque, Valencian and English.

The portal complies with the current regulations on accessibility of public sector websites and applications for mobile devices, as set out in Royal Decree 1112/2018 of 7 September, and in Directive 2016/2102 of 26 October 2016, and complies with the accessibility standards of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1).

In addition to the website, Tuesday also sees the launch of the official logo for the European elections on 9 June 2024.

European elections 2024

European legislation governing elections to the European Parliament stipulates that the electoral procedure shall be governed in each member state by its national provisions. In Spain, this procedure is laid down by Organic Law 5/1985, of 19 June 1985, on the General Electoral System, and by the regulations governing electoral processes.

Royal decree 363/2024 on the calling of the European elections, which is published in the BOE, was approved on Tuesday 9 April by the Council of Ministers.

The elections will be held on Sunday 9 June and Spain will elect 61 of the 720 MEPs who will form the European Parliament during the next legislature, which will run until 2029.

The election campaign will last for a fortnight, starting at 00:00 on Friday 24 May and ending at 24:00 on Friday 7 June.
