The total number of seats booked on international flights to Spain for December is 8.1 million, according to data released today by Turespaña. Compared to the same month in 2022, when 7.1 million were offered, the year-on-year increase is 14.2%.

The Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, said that "the forecasts for December are extraordinary. Consolidation and growth of European markets, and a boom in distant markets such as the United States. We must continue to guarantee air connectivity and the projection of Spain as a sustainable and quality destination".

In December, the performances of Poland (90.7% more seats booked than in December 2022), Czechia (46.2% more than a year ago) and the United States (27.3% year-on-year growth) stand out. Also noteworthy is the year-on-year growth in seats on scheduled flights from Austria this December, up 26.4%.

"This December, which is expected to be excellent for tourism, will round off a last quarter of good data and a boom in the sector, in line with the process of deseasonalising tourist flows, which everything indicates will continue in 2024," said the Minister for Tourism.

In terms of the percentage of seats booked per country, the UK leads the way with 19.3% of the total number of seats booked for this month, followed by Germany with 12.6% and Italy with 9.7% (see table).

Note: In interpreting the data, it should be remembered that the schedule is subject to change by the airlines.
