Spain and Morocco strengthen their scientific, technological and innovation collaboration

This memorandum of understanding aims to strengthen scientific, technological and innovation collaboration between the two countries, within the framework of the 12th Morocco-Spain High Level Meeting.

The agreement includes a bilateral cooperation programme to carry out joint R&D&I projects in priority areas for the two countries, as well as the development of a programme between universities, engineering schools and research centres in Morocco and Spain.

Joint participation in international calls for projects is also enhanced, in particular in the framework of the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Region (PRIMA) in the field of agriculture and water management and in other relevant areas and programmes of the Horizon Europe programme.

In addition, an agreement is being promoted for the supervision of doctoral theses by Moroccan research institutions and their Spanish counterparts, and the exchange of information, knowledge and experiences in R&D&I between the two countries is being promoted.

A Joint Commission will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the implementation of this memorandum of understanding between Spain and Morocco. The two countries already work together in the framework of initiatives such as PRIMA, the Mediterranean Dialogue and the 5+5 Dialogue on Science, Innovation and Higher Education.
