Spain has performed more than 29.9 million diagnostic tests since start of COVID-19 epidemic

In the last week, between 29 January and 4 February, the regional governments have performed a total of 982,524 PCR tests, an average of 140,360 PCR tests a day.

In addition, from 29 January to 4 February, the regional governments have performed a total of 688,413 antigen tests (98,344 a day on average). Including the PCR tests performed, this amounts to a total of 1,670,937 diagnostic tests over the course of the week, 238,705 a day. Accordingly, the number of diagnostic tests has increased by 6%, at a rate of 635.72 tests per 1,000 inhabitants.

New techniques are gradually being developed for the diagnosis of the infection caused by SARS-Cov2, such as the rapid antigen tests that the Regional Health Departments are starting to introduce to manage the pandemic.
