News - 2017.8.1
The Creative Europe Desk provides information and advice to Spanish operators in the culture sector entitled to receive aid via the rounds of funding announced by the EU Creative Europe Programme that funds projects under competitive tenders. Creative Europe has a budget of 1.46 billion euros for the period 2014-2020.
In 2016, the European Union announced financial help and lines of financing for cross-border cooperation projects run by cultural and creative organisations both within the EU and beyond; for European networks that help cultural and creative sectors develop their activity in a trans-national environment and strengthen competitiveness; for the translation and promotion of literary works in all EU markets; and, extraordinarily in 2016, a cross-sector call for proposals was launched for refugee integration projects.
European cooperation projects
This is the main line of financing under the programme's Culture heading, and covers a wide range of cultural activities based on themed priorities. 81 projects were selected, which receive a total of 35,489,571 euros. In Spain, 35 cultural organisations received 2,838,335 euros in direct grants.
European networks
This line of financing offers a framework subsidy agreement over four years to networks that encompass at least 15 organisations from 10 participating countries. The grants issued from this line amounted to a total of 6,406,181.69 euros. Two Spanish organisations were selected (networks based in Spain), which will receive 500,000 euros over the course of 2017.
Projects for translation and promotion of literary works
This line of financing offers financial help to publishers for the translation and promotion of European fictional works of high literary value, with an allocation of 2,061,780.79 euros. Two Spanish publishers have received a total of 112,566.75 euros in direct grants under this heading.
Refugee integration projects
This extraordinary call for proposals offered support for cultural, audio-visual and cross-sector projects aimed at helping refugees integrate within the European environment, improving mutual cultural knowledge and fostering intercultural and interreligious dialogue, tolerance and respect for other cultures. A total of 14 projects were funded with a total amount of 2,352,965.46 euros, of which 195,557.48 euros were granted to a Spanish project.
