Spain receives 20 million tourists in first four months of the year

Among the main emitting markets, the United Kingdom stands out with the arrival of close on 4.4 million tourists (up 9.6%). This is followed by Germany, with more than 2.8 million tourists (up 11.2%), and France, with 2.8 million tourists (up 6.9%).
The Canary Islands maintained its leading position in terms of inbound tourists with more than 4.9 million arrivals for the first four months of the year (up 9.4%), followed by Catalonia, with 4.7 million inbound tourists (up 8.4%) and Andalusia, with almost 2.9 million tourists (up by 10.7%).
Arrivals in April
As regards the month of April 2017, our country received 7.1 million inbound tourists, 16% up on the same month of 2016.
The United Kingdom was the main emitting market, with 1.52 million tourists, a 7% increase on the figure for last April. This was followed by France, with 1.14 million tourists (up 4.8%), and Germany, with 1.12 million (up 29.1%).
Due to Easter Week falling in April this year and March last year, also worthy of mention is the analysis of the joint period March-April. This shows an increase of 11.7% in the number of inbound tourists on the same two months of last year.
