The online platform "Narrando paisajes" provides information on cultural landscapes in Spain
News - 2017.3.14
The platform has been promoted by the Institute for Spanish Cultural Heritage and developed as part of the National Cultural Landscape Plan by the Cultural Landscape Research Group at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, with the support of the Spanish Science and Technology Foundation (Spanish acronym: FECYT). It is a programme that encourages people to discover what cultural landscapes are, why they form part of our heritage, what their main characteristics are, and which are most outstanding in Spain.
Narrando paisajes has an innovative design that allows users to navigate around Spain, selecting any of their landscapes or interact with additional information, using videos filmed by drones, mobile phones or GoPro cameras, photographs, historical records and scenes from films.
Included are landscapes from all the autonomous regions that have been moulded over time by activities as different as agriculture, urban settlement, defence, historical events, trade or industry.
Cultural landscapes form part of our cultural heritage and are the result of some of the most extraordinary processes of interaction between man and the natural environment. The fundamental objective of Narrando Paisajes is to make digital cultural content relating to cultural landscapes in Spain available online.
