There is an extensive Spanish presence at the 67th edition of Berlinale, with Spanish films being shown in many sections of the festival.
Spanish participation at this year's festival is distributed in various sections. 'Una mujer fantástica', directed by Sebastián Lelio, will compete in the official section, a co-production from Spain, Chile, Germany and the United States.
On the sidelines of the main competition, the film 'El Bar', directed by Álex de la Iglesia will be shown; the film 'La Reina de España' directed by Fernando Trueba in the special gala, and the film 'Últimos días en La Habana', directed by Fernando Pérez, will enter the Berlinale Special competition.
'Pieles', by Eduardo Casanova, and 'Política, manual de instrucciones', by Fernando León de Aranoa will compete in the Panorama section.
In this year's edition of the Culinary section, Spain will present 'Soul', by Ángel Parra and José Antonio Blanco.
The film 'Estiu 1993', by Carla Simón, will be shown in the Generation and Talent sections and 'Morning Cowboy', by Fernando Pomares, in the Generation section.
Lastly, the Spanish representative 'El mar nos mira de lejos', by Manuel Muñoz Rivas, will be shown in the Forum section.
Spain represented at the European Film Market by 'Cinema from Spain'
During his stay in Berlin, the State Secretary for Culture, Fernando Benzo, will visit the stand representing his ministerial department through the Institute for Cinematography and the Audiovisual Arts (Spanish acronym: ICAA) at the European Film Market. This is an international market where companies can offer their potential buyers some of the most recent successes of Spanish cinema.
The 'Cinema From Spain' pavilion has consolidated its position over the years and nowadays represents a fundamental tool for enhancing the visibility of Spanish cinema and the Spanish film industry in one of the most important European markets.
