After the meeting, the two ministers expressed their satisfaction with the excellent and sound bilateral relations between Spain and Morocco, thanks to the brotherly ties that unite H.M. King Mohammed VI and H.M. King Felipe VI.
On this occasion, the two ministers praised the exemplary cooperation that exists between the services of the home affairs ministries of the two countries and highlighted the results achieved from the operational and technical cooperation between their security services, especially in the fields of the fight against terrorism and organised crime.
In terms of the fight against terrorism, the two ministers particularly praised the close coordination between the security services of Spain and Morocco based on the sustained and trusting exchange of information and the organisation of joint and simultaneous operations, which have led to the dismantling of numerous terrorist cells, such as those linked to the recruitment and channelling of terrorist combatants to conflict areas.
Mohamed Hassad and Juan Ignacio Zoido highlighted the need to further consolidate this cooperation and continue joining forces, both regionally and multilaterally, in order to actively contribute to tackling the upsurge in terrorist threats.
In terms of the fight against drug trafficking, the two ministers reviewed the highly satisfactory results from the cooperation between the security services of the two countries, which has led to a substantial reduction in drug trafficking, especially by light aircraft across the Strait of Gibraltar.
As regards the migration issue, they underlined the quality of the excellent and unique partnership that characterises their cooperation in this field and that justifiably constitutes an improved benchmark in the management of migratory flows, including the issues of humanitarian and development security in perfect symbiosis with the respect of Human Rights and the Dignity of Human Beings.
This cooperation, which has led to a situation of coordination and information exchange between the two countries, has enabled significant targets and results to be achieved, especially in terms of the fight against immigrant trafficking networks and abuse of the people.
The two ministers also welcomed the efficient and state-aided management of Operation "Marhaba-Strait of Gibraltar Crossing", involving the mobilisation of significant human, logistics and material resources by the two countries.
At the end of the meeting, the two ministers officially recognised the various security services of the two countries and agreed to further strengthen cooperation and coordination between their respective ministerial departments in those areas of shared interest.
