In her opening speech at the 3rd Internationalisation Summit organised by the Chamber of Commerce of Spain, the Spanish Executives Association, the Exporters Club and the Forum for Renowned Brands, the Vice-President of the Government highlighted the "record figures" on goods and services exports posted in recent months, as well as the fact that Spain is now the second-largest exporter in Europe - only behind Germany.

There are difficulties surrounding the process of internationalisation - which represents one of the main economic driving forces behind the Spanish economy - that "need to be given simple solutions so that business owners can overcome them" said Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría. She went on to highlight the financing efforts being made by the ICO [Official Credit Institute], the work of which has multiplied five-fold in the first quarter of 2015. Furthermore, she said that help should be given to SMEs in identifying new clients and partners overseas.

Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría said that the Government of Spain has a responsibility to help tackle the internationalisation process and, therefore, "will not renounce the measures that have helped create jobs and growth".
