Pedro Morenés underlines need to combat Jihadi terrorism jointly with African countries

The minister made this statement during the closing event of the 27th International Seminar on Security and Defence, organised by the European Press Association under the slogan "Jihadism: from terror to war", which took place on Wednesday morning in Toledo.

He also underlined that one of the battles that must be won against Jihadism is that taking place over the Internet, where "the explosion, expansion and union of terrorism" is unfolding.

To conclude his speech, Pedro Morenés pointed out that he is convinced that this threat must be tackled globally and urged those countries that suffer from this blight to make an active commitment.

27th International Seminar on Security and Defence

This seminar was inaugurated on Tuesday by the President of the European Press Association, Diego Carcedo, and by the General Secretary of the Association, Miguel Ángel Aguilar.

During the course of the seminar on Tuesday, the Director General of Defence Policy, Admiral Juan Francisco Martínez Núñez, outlined Spanish military action in neighbouring regions of Africa.

The seminar continued on Wednesday with a conference on "Connected intelligence", given by the Director of the National Intelligence Centre, General Félix Sanz Roldán.
