The Biennial Exhibition is the main non-commercial contemporary art event in the world, as well as the oldest (dating back to 1985). The International Art Exhibition has received some 450,000 visitors each year for the last three editions. This year's event opens its doors on 6 May and runs until 22 November.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Co-operation, through the Spanish International Development Co-operation Agency (Spanish acronym: AECID), is once again organising the Spanish participation at the Biennial Exhibition, at which Spain has already been an important participant, and has its own pavilion. The commissioner of the Spanish Pavilion for this year is Martí Manen, whose Project entitled "Los sujetos" ["Subjects"] proposes revisiting Salvador Dalí through the contemporary artists Francesc Ruíz, Cabello Carceller and Pepo Salazar.
