- PhD in Political Science from Complutense University, where he taught from 2008 until taking office as an MEP in 2014
- Bachelor's Degree in Law and Political Science, extending his training by obtaining a Master's Degree in Humanities from Carlos III University and a Master's Degree in Communication from the European Graduate School
- Honorary doctorate from Metropolitan University of Buenos Aires, Prize for Excellence in Social Sciences from Latin American Council of Social Sciences and Rodolfo Walsh Prize from Faculty of Journalism of National University of La Plata
Political and professional career
- Second Vice-President of the Government and Minister for Social Rights and 2030 Agenda since January 2020
- As well as performing academic tasks, he engaged in extensive activity as a journalist, presenting TV programmes, and as an analyst and columnist
- While studying for his PhD, he undertook research at several European universities (Glasgow, European University Institute of Florence and Cambridge) and American Universities (UNAM and California-Riverside University)
- In January 2014, he helped form Podemos, and headed up its list for the general elections held in May that year
- Secretary-General of Podemos since 2014 and MP in the Lower House of Parliament since 2015.
- He is the author and coordinator of several books on political and cultural affairs.
