The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, has held a meeting with representatives of the work of the UN on the occasion of United Nations Day, with the aim of exchanging opinions and reflecting together on the work carried out by the Organisation and its agencies, and how it changes the lives of many people, as well as bringing the United Nations closer to the public.

Pedro Sánchez met with Pablo Gómez, a general in Peace Operations; Maha Jarour, a Palestinian refugee engineer who works at the United Nations computer centre in Valencia; Khadija Amin, an Afghan journalist who came to Spain with Operation Antigone and collaborates with UNHCR; and Maria José Sagrado, a nurse and epidemiologist who works for Médecins Sans Frontières and worked at the World Health Organization.

The president of the Government of Spain took the opportunity to highlight Spain's commitment to the values of the Organisation and to an international rules-based order, as well as to underline Spain's commitment to increase funding to the United Nations by 25% for the period 2025-2027.
