President of the Government attends swearing-in of new Constitutional Court judges

The Minister for Justice, Rafael Catalá, acting as Commissioner for Oaths, was present at the ceremony, which was also attended by the Speaker of the Lower House, Ana Pastor, the Speaker of the Upper House, Pio García-Escudero, and the President of the Supreme Court and of the General Council for the Judiciary, Carlos Lesmes.
The new Constitutional Court judges - Ricardo Enríquez Sancho, Alfredo Montoya Melgar, Cándido Conde-Pumpido Tourón and María Luisa Balaguer Callejón - are part of the quota reserved for the Upper House of Parliament under the Constitution, and have been proposed by the legislative assemblies of the autonomous regions. The Official State Bulletin (Boletín Oficial del Estado) published their appointments on 11 March.
