The Summit is the culmination of the 2016 Chinese Presidency. It has been prepared over this year at four meetings with the Sherpas of Heads of State or Government of the participating countries and numerous meetings of finance ministers and deputy ministers, meetings at sector level and working groups on the different issues dealt with at the G-20.

Spain has participated actively at these meetings at all levels. It has the status of "permanent guest invitee", and once more this year has consolidated its position as active participant at this important informal global governance forum.

Proof of this, and of the international recognition of our country's economic recovery stemming from the structural reforms undertaken in recent years, is that the Chinese Presidency has invited the President of the Spanish Government to take the floor at the working sessions dedicated to economic growth and economic and financial governance at the Hangzhou Summit.

At the G-20 summit of Brisbane (Australia) in November 2015, the acting President of the Government was also invited by the Australian Presidency to attend as a main speaker, with a presentation on the structural reforms undertaken in Spain.

On the occasion of the Hangzhou summit, the acting President of the Government will meet with a number of G-20 Heads of State and Government. They include the Chinese President Xi-Jing Ping, the President of Argentina, Mauricio Macri, and the President of Brazil, Michel Temer.
