In a statement to the media following the meeting between the two ministers, Isabel García Tejerina declared her interest in forging alliances with other Member States that prioritise agriculture in their policies and in joining positions.
In this regard, she advocated an ambitious CAP and strong financing in the future European Union Budget, which provides a response to a policy that contributes genuine European added value.
During the meeting, the two ministers reviewed the situation of some agricultural markets, such as the sugar market following the abolition of production quotas, powdered skimmed milk and the regulations on managing agricultural land.
As regards African swine fever, which is currently affecting Polish livestock, Isabel García Tejerina welcomed collaboration in fighting this disease, which Spain has extensive experience in controlling and eradicating.
